We are never the well-off family that would have a vacation to other country or would spend money on things that are really futile. Even to gadgets or any pointless luxury is a BIG NO. But I believe that we have enough money for everything—God’s graces.
The understanding of simplicity has raised us.
I believe that the greatest example of simplicity is my mom.
I remember when she(mom) would told me “sa bibilin mong yan madami ng gamit ang mabibiling gamit para sa mga taong walang magamit.” Or sometimes she’ll just stare into my eyes like she’s telling me the big word “THINK”.
I am grateful that my parent’s has raised me well that I am satisfied with what material things I have and taught me how to count our every blessing—to deprive us from feeling envious.
I think that is the value.
Seeing my mom wearing hand-me-down clothes from her sisters doesn’t look and feel so bad. In fact it does look awesome, for me. For those clothes be worn by mom? Those are the luckiest clothes I have ever seen. To be worn by someone who has high intellect, beautiful, superbly talented and has a good heart and soul, tell me, isn’t that lucky?
What I mean friends is that we don’t need to be more than what we are when we’re talking about bucks because sometimes we may look good by what we wear or how much money we have, but that doesn’t count in what you are and how you are.
